The Gators hopes for College Football Playoff were dashed by a tough Arkansas Razorback team who not only pounded them with the run, but two weeks after being run over by Auburn, held Florida’s offense down for a 31-10 win Saturday.
Arkansas’ Santos Ramirez got the Hogs on the board with a 24 yard interception return for a TD in the first three minutes of the game and a 7-0 lead. It was a bad omen for Florida.
Their offense could not get on track and QB Luke Del Rio finished with 19-37 for 229yds including another crucial interception late in the first half inside the Razorback 10 yard line. The Gators mustered no offensive touchdowns and only a second half field goal for their troubles.
QB Austin Allen led the Hogs to a TD late in the first half finding Drew Morgan (pictured above) in the back of the end zone to push the lead to 14 at the break.
Arkansas RB Rawleigh Williams III ran for 148 yards and two TD’s including the clinching 41 yard touchdown with under six minutes left. The Hogs are now 6-3 and 2-3 in the SEC.
Florida now drops back into a tie in the East in the loss column at 4-2 in conference.
