The Dolphins finally got their offense rolling on Sunday. Once again, though, it was their defense that saved the day.
Reshad Jones intercepted a Matt Ryan pass with :39 seconds left to preserve a 20-17 Dolphins victory over the Falcons in Atlanta.
The pick helped hold up what was easily the best day the Dolphins have had on the offensive side of the ball this year.
Running back Jay Ajayi ran 26 times for 130 yards and quarterback Jay Cutler completed 9 of 33 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Jarvis Landry led the way for the pass catchers with eight receptions for 62 yards and one of the touchdowns.
The Dolphins also recorded a pair of sacks of Ryan, who was 24-of-35 for 248 yards, a touchdown and the one pick.
Atlanta broke out to a 10-0 lead when Matt Ryan went deep here:

Marvin Hall burning the Fins secondary is nothing that Miami fans haven’t seen already this season. And, Atlanta quickly built the lead to 17-0 in the second quarter, when Tevin Coleman ran in a six yard TD capping a five play 61 yard drive.
It looked at that point that the Dolphins were on their way to another lopsided second half.
However, Ajayi got going on the ground and Cutler complimented him with some solid throws and capped a 15 play 75 yard drive with an 11 yard score to trim the deficit.
It was just Miami’s fourth offensive TD of the season, at that point.
The Fins continued to come to life in the third quarter and scored on another quick drive of five plays 51 yards with Cutler hitting Landry:
Landry’s touchdown quieted the Mercedes Benz Stadium crowd even more and suddenly, Miami was back in the game down only 17-14
With the second half momentum already is full swing and the Dolphins defense being stingy they would tie the score at 17 after a Cody Parker 49 yard field go with 8:39 left in the game. Then with 2:35 left, Parker would give the Dolphins a 20-17 lead with a 38 yard field goal. All of a sudden the pressure was on Atlanta and Matt Ryan to run their two minute offense.
In that final drive, Ryan would be intercepted by Reshad Jones with 47 seconds left and Miami would kneel down to run out the clock. One of the bright spots was Jay Ajayi finally coming through rushing for 130 yards on 26 carries. Though he didn’t light the world on fire, Cutler did have two second half TD passes which would change the momentum of the game. The Dolphins move to 3-2 on the season and they can finally say they have some positive momentum.
