As expected, the Miami Dolphins have reached an extension with LB Kiko Alonso per league sources. The deal is a three year extension for $29 million with $18.5 of that money guaranteed.
The move is of little surprised as the team has been negotiating an extension with Alonso throughout the offseason. They were just trying to figure out what number would work for both parties.
In addition no deal has been announced for free agent LB Zach Brown who visited with the team this week. Brown however did switch agents after he visited with the Dolphins when a deal wasn’t reached. He did switch to an agent who is based in Miami. Whether that has an impact on if Brown does sign with the Fins remains to be seen. He is still expected to meet with the team he played for last season, the Bills this week as well.
By extending Alonso as well as possibly landing Brown, the Fins could have one of the best LB units in the league. They already lost Jelani Jenkins to the Oakland Raiders this week. But with the addition of Lawrence Timmons and the possibility of Brown, would give the team a lethal trio.
