The Miami Dolphins will look to do something they haven’t done since 2008 Sunday, when they go for a fifth straight win taking on the L.A. Rams at the Coliseum. Here are three things we’re watching:
Dolphins face the #1 Overall Pick in his debut
As we wrote earlier this week, the Fins will face rookie Jared Cook in his debut and that’s definitely in their favor. The Rams have been punch-less for much of the season on offense, including last week at the Meadowlands when they failed to score a TD in a 9-6 win over the Jets. Meanwhile, Miami has played much better on defense over their last four games, including their tremendous fourth quarter with four interceptions of Phillip Rivers in the comeback win in San Diego seven days ago.
Match-up to watch: RB Jay Ajayi vs. Rams front seven
We know this much, the Dolphins turnaround began and has continued with Ajayi bursting on the national scene four games ago. He registered back to back 200 yard games for only the third time in league history since 1970. And he continues to give Miami punch between the tackles. The Rams feature arguably the best Defensive Tackle in football in Aaron Donald and an aggressive linebacking corp. This will be fun to see.
Finally, Fins on the verge of Playoff talk
With a win today, Miami will not only have won the five straight, they will be 6-4 and head back to South Florida to play the hapless 49ers with a chance to be 7-4. Needless to say, victory in both games puts them in the AFC Wildcard race. You can’t ask for much more if you are a Fins fan than that after a 1-3 start. Now, can they take care of business? Time to find out in L.A., first.
