Playing for the third time on the road already in their first four games, the Dolphins have an uphill battle with the Bengals to even their record at 2-2. Here’s a quick primer:
Miami narrowly avoided a collapse, an 0-3 start and got it’s first win four days ago. It also included a missed Browns FG at the end of regulation before RB Jay Ajayi scored the winning TD in OT. This has the Fins sitting at 1-2.
Meanwhile, the Bengals surprised the Jets at the Meadowlands week one, but lost to Pittsburgh and then saw QB Trevor Siemian light them up for two long TD passes as Denver dropped them to 1-2, also.
Whom to watch:
The Dolphins run game will be without RB Arian Foster who remains out with a groin injury suffered week two. So Adam Gase will go by committee in the backfield just like last week. Miami gave the ball to rookie Kenyan Drake most of the first half and he finished with 9 carries. The Dolphins went with Ajayi in the second half who finished with 7 carries and got the game winner on a run around left end. Most likely Gase will do the same rotation tonight, Drake starting but a mix of both.
The Bengals will look to WR A.J. Green, per usual, to be their go to weapon downfield. He had 12 catches including a bomb for a TD week one against the Jets. Last week against Denver he had eight more catches for 77 yards. The Dolphins will obviously have to contain him, if they hope to slow down their passing attack.
Cincinnati will apparently welcome back LB Vontaze Burfict off a three game NFL suspension for his conduct in the Bengals playoff loss to Pittsburgh in January. It’s “apparently,” because the logic is that he would play, but Marvin Lewis would not confirm it to the media leading up to the game.
Miami has won three straight in the series.
Jarvis Landry (listed as questionable with a shoulder, but expected to play) is currently leading the NFL in receptions and receiving yards.
The loser of this game will be 1-3 and depending on what Baltimore and New England do Sunday, could be three games out of the division race already.
