The saga around Miami Dolphins OT Branden Albert continued on Sunday as reports are coming out that the team is working on a deal to trade Albert to the Jacksonville Jaguars for TE Julius Thomas. According to the Sun Sentinel, multiple sources are confirming that this deal is in the works.
The trade may be contingent on Albert and Thomas restructuring their contracts. The players would also need to pass physicals, and a deal can’t be finalized until the start of the new league year on March 9.

This isn’t a surprising move if it does goes through. Albert last week was really close to being cut by the team. However when the release list was made public, Albert wasn’t on it, which led to other speculation. It didn’t seem that Albert was going to stay on the Dolphins this year regardless. Then it started to become clear that other team or teams were showing interest in Albert, who’s a three time pro bowler. It turns out that team is the Jacksonville Jaguars.
With Julius Thomas the Dolphins would add a solid TE, who has some serious skills, but production declined in 2016. For the Jags, they would get a solid offensive lineman who is considered to be a great leader and locker room presence.
