Horrible news on July 4th morning out of South Florida, as reserve Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton was involved in a serious automobile accident that has resulted in his left arm having been amputated.
Miami radio personality/reporter Andy Slater had specific details on the car crash Thursday morning:
Unfortunate news: The overnight, rollover crash involving Dolphins DL Kendrick Norton resulted in paramedics having to amputate his left arm at the scene, multiple sources tell me.

Norton is a former third team All ACC defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes (above), who was drafted a year ago in the 7th round by the Carolina Panthers. The Fins signed him off the Panthers practice squad in December and he had been taking part in the offseason program for new coach Brian Flores and his staff.
The Dolphins released a brief statement on social media acknowledging Norton’s serious injuries without being specific Thursday morning:
We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time.

Multiple reports in Miami say that the car flipped over multiple times and that, apparently, Norton’s girlfriend was in the car with him, but escaped serious injury.
Norton was a top recruit in the state out of Jacksonville’s Trinity Christian High School. In his final year with the Hurricanes (2017), he was honorable mention All-ACC with 26 tackles, 6.5 for losses with two sacks. This followed his 2016 season where his numbers were better with 39 tackles and 10 for losses, as he was named third team all conference.
Later on Thursday morning, Norton’s agent Malki Kawa confirmed the arm amputation on social media:
With sadness, I can confirm that Kendrick Norton was in a car accident last night and suffered multiple injuries, including the amputation of his arm. We ask that you continue to pray for him. His family also asks that the public respect Kendrick’s privacy.

Early Thursday afternoon, TMZ obtained video of Norton arriving at a South Florida hospital with paramedics taking him off the ambulance and his amputated left arm visibly wrapped:

The gossip site further reported that Norton flipped his Ford F250 Truck in a single car accident onto it’s roof just after 1 a.m. Eastern Thursday morning after striking a concrete barrier on state road 836. They also obtained police dispatch audio that reported that Norton’s arm may have been pinned under the vehicle.
While, we still await further word on Norton’s condition, his girlfriend was apparently treated for a fractured finger, scrapes and bruises and released.
