The rebound season of the Dolphins that has put them firmly in the AFC playoff discussion, saw more recognition Tuesday night. Two Dolphins defenders were given the best compliment by their peers and opposing coaches/general managers, as Ndamukong Suh and Cameron Wake were both selected to represent the AFC in the Pro Bowl in January.

For Wake it’s a story of perseverance after an Achilles injury cut short his 2015 season, but his 2016 has been a strong bounce back with 10.5 sacks which leads all AFC defensive ends. It’s his fifth overall Pro Bowl selection.

For Suh, he had no such season ending injury in ’15, but obviously, as the high priced center piece free agent of a the Fins a year ago, he didn’t do very much. This year under first year coordinator Vance Joseph, he’s back to playing dominant football in the middle.

Suh currently is tied for most sacks by an AFC defensive tackle with five and has an additional 10 tackles for loss. It is also his fifth selection to the Pro Bowl, as well.

It obviously helped both defenders greatly that Miami put together a six game winning streak earlier and now at 9-5 are very relevant for the post-season.

Realistically, there isn’t likelyhood really of other Dolphins to make it as reserves or injury fill-ins for the AFC. The best hope would be wideout Jarvis Landry, who is the most explosive player and  has gone over the 1,000 yard mark in receiving for the third straight year.
