The Miami Dolphins are concluding their first week of mandatory minicamp preparation for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, their head coach is going to reach back to his pro football roots one more time, when he travels to Boston Thursday night. That’s when new Dolphins coach Brian Flores will be part of the New England Patriots ring ceremony taking place at the home of owner Robert Kraft.

Earlier this week, Flores made no secret that he intended to be part of New England’s latest Super Bowl victory:

And why shouldn’t he? After all Flores was the defensive play-caller, as New England stymied the Kansas City Chiefs just enough in Arrowhead to win the AFC Championship. And, then they pitched a near shutout in shutting down the NFC champion L.A. Rams for a Super Bowl 53 win.

Flores had also been part the previous Super Bowl wins by New England over the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks, as a defensive assistant. All the while learning from the premiere organization in all of pro sports on how to build and continue a winning culture.

And make no mistake, that winning pedigree that Bill Belichick has instilled in his coaching staff and players through two decades of winning appealed to Miami owner Stephen Ross and GM Chris Grier to bring Flores to Miami.

In fact, Ross and Greer were willing to wait until the conclusion of February’s title run by New England to officially bring Flores in.

Now, Flores looks to have his imprint placed on the Fins starting with this season. And while most believe it is going to be a rough year with a learning curve for all involved, the importance of laying the foundation has begun for all involved.

And, for Flores, his latest 2018 piece of “Championship Hardware” will speak volumes for him with his new team… without even having to say a word
