The saga of where Jarvis Landry will play in 2018 continues and so to, do the continued anonymous “team sources” reports about where the Dolphins might be trading him.
The latest was put on social media late Sunday night from ESPN.com reporter Jeremy Fowler, who covers the AFC North Division and is obviously plugged in to what some of those teams are trying to do:
The Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears are among at least five teams to talk with Jarvis Landry’s agent about a potential trade for the Pro Bowl receiver, according to a source. No deal is imminent at this time.

Fowler tweeting “The Baltimore Ravens,” has definitely credibility, because previously it was reported by Baltimore media and national NFL insiders that the Ravens had inquired about Landry’s availability through trade leading up to the 2017 season.
Baltimore also allegedly made another effort to get Landry just before the trade deadline last October, as the Dolphins season was floundering, and they would eventually finish 6-10.
We have written extensively about the “back and forth” that is going on between Miami management and their star WR, who the Fins offered the Franchise Tag almost two weeks ago. Over the weekend, when a Chicago media report had the Dolphins asking for Jordan Howard from the Bears in return, that sparked a lot of interest. However, that rumored deal was quickly debunked, as the Bears never having discussed Howard’s name with Miami for Landry.
As for the Ravens with a coach, John Harbaugh, and a QB, Joe Flacco, who won the Super Bowl together, there is definite appeal to go there for Landry. However, as free agency approaches, the Ravens apparently only have around $11 million to spend and would have to obviously re-work some deals, and also, probably get creative with a new deal for Landry.
Fowler’s report also includes the ole’ “mystery teams.”
We always find this fascinating and so did Pro Football Talk Monday morning, because sometimes they exist and sometimes that’s an agent playing “bluff games” through media and negotiating publicly without really having other teams.
The San Francisco 49ers with newly signed QB Jimmy Garappolo remain an intriguing possibility for Landry, if the Dolphins actually trade him. At latest check, the Niners have around $71 million to spend coming up.
Landry reportedly will sign his franchise tender from Miami “soon,” whatever that actually means, too.
When he does, it will guarantee his 2018 salary at $16 million for sure. That amount of guaranteed money would increase dramatically with a new team and deal.
The “Landry Watch” continues.
