It turns out that Julius Thomas will be heading to Miami after all. After it seemed that Thomas was going to be swapped for OT Branden Albert, the situation changed once again. Albert was traded for a late 2018 draft pick earlier in the day. This evening the Jaguars are sending Thomas to the Dolphins for a 7th round 2017 draft pick, according to the Miami Herald.

The result of the players being in the respective cities has been correct over the past 48 hours. However the mechanism on how the franchise structured these transactions is what has been fluid. It seems that these trades work best for all parties involved as contracts will have to be adjusted. The deals can’t be finalized until March 9th, but they are both in good position for approval. The Albert trade still has some details that need to be worked out. Either way Albert won’t be with the Dolphins regardless.
For Thomas, he was excited to get to Miami so he can be reunited with Adam Gase who ran the same offensive system when he played in Denver. Those two years Thomas scored 12 TDs both seasons. Clearly Thomas sees this move as one that will help his production.
