The road to the start of the college football season is getting just a little bit closer today. The game times and tv providers have been announced for the first few weekends of games in September.
Leading the way is the matchup between Florida and the University of Michigan on September 2nd. The game is being played AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and will start at 3:30pm ET. ABC will broadcast the game to the national audience. Obviously this is going to be a big game for both programs. Michigan is going to be in a position to at least be expected to compete for a national title. Where the Gators coming off back to back SEC East titles, can use a huge out of conference win heading into SEC play.
One game that is surrounded with a lot of hype is on September 16th in Tallahassee. Florida State University will host the University of Miami in a rivalry game that will be in the prime time 8:00pm ET slot on ABC for the national audience. Over the past seven years this game has been more of a hammer and nail relationship than an actual rivalry, with the Noles winning the previous seven. Though last year’s game was won on a blocked extra point at the end of the game, it still went to FSU. The Canes will be looking for revenge as they have major expectations coming in with perhaps a top 5 defense.
As the season approaches more times will be announced, including rivalry week games Florida State at Florida on November 25th and South Florida at Central Florida on November 24th.
All five of the major college football programs in Florida have high expectations this year. All are projected to go to bowl games, which will certainly add to the intrigue as the season heats up.
