The Buccaneers have been remaking their defensive line all offseason, and it continued Monday afternoon with adding a defensive end who has been known more recently for his humorous Financial advice then for his pass rushing skills.

The Bucs claimed Browns defensive end and former 3rd round pick Carl Nassib off of waivers. And if that name sounds familiar, it’s because he has been a star this August on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” training camp with the Cleveland Browns.

In particular, was Nassib’s humorous and loud financial advice for his fellow defensive linemen, involving saving and gaining interest on their money shown in this episode:

Nassib has started 15 games for the Browns over his two seasons in the NFL and has 5.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. He’s shown some flashes as an edge rusher from either right or left defensive end.

The Buccaneers are also intrigued by the potential upside with Nassib in that he’s the former Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Lombardi Trophy award winner for outstanding lineman in 2015, while at Penn State.

Nassib will immediately come into a rotation that includes: newcomers Jason Pierre-Paul and Eagles free agent Vinny Curry. Plus, the unit has former Bucs 2nd round pick Noah Spence, who’s battling for playing time and veteran defensive end William Gholston.

We have well-documented that the Buccaneers struggled mightily to rush the quarterback is specially from the ends in 2017. They were last in the NFL in sacks.

In addition to the personnel facelift, the Bucs also hired away Cardinals defensive line coach Brentson Buckner to help energize that unit. And now the hope, is that the 6’7 Nassib will be ready to make a contribution almost immediately, as well.

And, to add to the intrigue, the Buccaneers will host the Browns on Sunday October 21st at Raymond James Stadium.
