The resurgence of in the second half of the season of the Miami Dolphins not only got them in the playoffs, but it continues to pay dividends with credibility outside South Florida. Another example was Friday in free agency, when Steelers 10 year veteran LB Lawrence Timmons chose to leave for the Fins.

Pro Football Talk has the details:

We wrote yesterday that Timmons was “kicking the tires” on coming to Miami and obviously the chance to play with Ndomukong Suh and Cam Wake appealed to him. So too, did $11 million guaranteed over the next two seasons.

Timmons made an impression (especially on Matt Moore above) in the Pittsburgh playoff win in January. And, as the PFT note also states, Miami will likely move Kiko Alonso to the outside on a more regular basis.

Obviously, owner Stephen Ross and the Dolphin front office should be smiling, because when a veteran who Pittsburgh respects wants to leave, it’s to win.
