The Atlantic Coast Conference can’t be accused of failure to plan. The conference announced this week the schedule for Notre Dame playing league schools through 2037. Yes you read that correctly, we know which dates and the opponents Notre Dame will play for the next 20 years. Obviously built into that schedule is the infamous rivalry between the University of Miami.

What was once deemed Catholics vs. Convicts in the 1980s has been somewhat rejuvenated over the last few years, including a bowl match up. The renewal of the match up happened because of the deal the ACC has with Notre Dame which requires them to play Miami as part of a rotation. In the deal Notre Dame must play on average five ACC schools per season.

Last season the Hurricanes fell to the Fighting Irish 30-27 in South Bend. That was part of their four game losing streak and one of the highlights of Notre Dame’s disappointing seasons last year. This season the game is to be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on November 11th, where the Canes will seek their revenge from the previous season.

What about the plan years from now? Below is the schedule from 2028-2037 – Catholics vs. Not Really Convicts Anymore:

▪ 2028: Miami at Notre Dame

▪ 2031: Miami at Notre Dame

▪ 2032: Notre Dame at Miami

▪ 2034: Notre Dame at Miami

▪ 2037: Miami at Notre Dame

We don’t have the exact dates yet, because the actual calendar of days isn’t out yet that far in advance (Just kidding). Obviously the ACC gave Notre Dame the advantage in home games as the Canes will get only two out of the five.

Where will we be in 2028? Who the heck knows, but we do know this rivalry has some legs in the future, which is great for college football fans.
